The utility of floor protectors extends far beyond the legs of sofas and tables. Their fundamental purpose—to cushion, protect, and prevent slipping—can be applied creatively throughout the home and office. A common use is on the bottom of decorative items like vases, sculpture bases, lamp stands, and potted plants. These items are often heavy and moved for cleaning, posing a significant risk to floor surfaces. Applying small, clear protectors to their bases ensures they stay in place and won't scratch surfaces.
Another excellent application is on folding chairs and ladders. These items are often stored but see heavy use when brought out, and their metal legs can be particularly harsh on floors. Small felt or rubber pads can make them safer and less destructive. Floor protectors can also be used on the underside of desk chairs with wheels to prevent them from scratching hardwood when not on a mat. Even on walls, felt pads can be applied to the back of framed pictures or mirrors to prevent scuffing when they shift. Essentially, any object that makes contact with a precious surface can benefit from a protective barrier.
